What are the Responsibilities of School Nurses?
-
Certified school nurses (CSNs) and registered nurses (RNs) provide medical care and education to students and assist the district staff in providing health education curriculum when requested by administration or necessary due to student’s medical needs. When necessary, the nurses offer consultation to parents and collaborate with a family’s doctors and other medical personnel to develop a comprehensive health plan for students. The nurses ensure that classroom staff is familiar with and trained in each student’s health plan. The nurses will work with the school team to update health plans as needed.
Nurses ensure that the ELC observes federal and state mandates and that student health records comply with federal and state laws.
