Eva Takes the Lead in Self-Advocacy

Eva Takes the Lead in Self-Advocacy

We are thrilled to share some exciting news about one of our students, Eva.

Earlier this year, Eva and her support team held a transition meeting that sparked a wave of inspirational ideas about her future. Among them was Eva’s own goal: to become a self-advocate.

Last week marked a major milestone when Eva and her family met with Samantha Alloway from The Arc of Illinois. Samantha is a well-respected leader in advocacy, government relations, and human services, and her work has empowered many. During their meeting, Eva impressed Samantha with her thoughtful questions and genuine passion for advocacy.

Now, Eva’s path to advocacy is opening up even further.  This summer, she will be participating in training through The Arc of Illinois, gaining skills, insight, and connections that will help shape her advocacy journey.  She has also been invited to attend the Speak Up Speak Out Conference this fall where she will share her story to others.

We’re incredibly proud of Eva! Her courage, vision, and commitment to advocacy are truly inspirational.
Way to go, Eva!
