April is OT Month!

April is OT Month!

April marks Occupational Therapy Month, and I'm excited to celebrate the tremendous impact our Occupational Therapy Practitioners (OTPs) have on our school community.

Our OTPs work diligently, often behind the scenes, to help students fully participate in their education. Their expertise enhances student success through various essential interventions, including:

  • Developing fine motor skills that enable students to write, type, and participate in classroom activities with confidence
  • Implementing sensory processing strategies that help students stay comfortable in their learning environment
  • Teaching self-management techniques that empower students to regulate  throughout the school day
  • Supporting co-regulation skills that enable positive interactions with peers and teachers
  • Creating classroom modifications that ensure all students can access their learning materials effectively
  • Facilitating classroom participation so every student can engage meaningfully with their education
  • Building self-care independence to help students manage daily routines independently
  • Fostering independent living skills that prepare students for long-term success
